Easy Kid-Friendly Recipe- Green Smoothie Freezies

Easy Kid-Friendly Recipe- Green Smoothie Freezies

This super easy recipe is a simple way to trick your kids into eating their greens! It is basically kid-friendly kale. Bet you never knew there was such a thing! Who would have thought eating kale would be so fun?

I make green smoothies for Gordie all the time. He calls it his green milk. I just whiz up a handful of kale or spinach, a splash of milk or coconut milk (if I have a can on the go), a banana and sometimes a squirt of liquid stevia. (Canadian link here.) The beauty of green smoothies is that you can switch it up based on what you have in the fridge or freezer. Sometimes I add some blueberries or strawberries or cucumber or celery or squash or sweet potato. Or some leftovers from the night before. That is the best thing about green smoothies- anything goes! And since I discovered these cute silicone freezie containers. (Canadian link here.) I make green smoothie freeezies too.

Vitamix Blenders- Worth the Investment?

Green smoothies are so easy to make if you have a Vitamix.  (Canadian Link here.) You can use a regular blender too, it just might not get the spinach or kale quite as smooth. You could just use ingredients that are easier for your blender to handle, like avocado. If you have heard of these super blenders before but can’t imagine spending $400 on a blender, I get it. I had the same thoughts and hesitations.

If you already have a $20 blender and don’t really use it very often, it’s hard to imagine needing an expensive super blender. BUT… let me tell you that I love mine and use it all the time. It does things that a $20 blender just can’t do. I make green smoothies all the time and I also make healthy nutella (it’s worth the cost just for that recipe alone), peanut butter, toasted coconut butter spread (which is great for toasted coconut butter candy– another kid-friendly idea!) and I am starting to use it for soups. And it self cleans! Definitely worth the investment.

How cute is this guy?! He was getting a kick out of the “pop” sound that these containers make when you open the freezie molds.
